Carl Carlton, Voice Behind “Everlasting Love” and “She’s a Bad Mama Jama,” Passes Away

Remembering Carl Carlton

Carl Carlton, the soulful voice behind disco-era classics, has passed away at 72. Born in Detroit as Carlton Hudgens, he rose to fame with his 1974 hit Everlasting Love and later scored a signature anthem with She’s a Bad Mama Jama (She’s Built, She’s Stacked).

Often compared to Stevie Wonder, Carlton was known for his warmth, energy, and humility. Even after a stroke in 2019, his music continued reaching new generations.

He passed away on December 14, 2025, leaving behind songs that still bring joy and keep his voice alive.
